  • 1.  ERROR 19215 Internal Inconsistency at 99% of Create Image

    Posted Jul 09, 2008 09:17 AM

    Newbie... read another person's post about this same image.. did not see a solution.  Our Ghostcast Server is 11.0.0.1502.  Any help would be very much appreciated!!  The image size is 38 GB... but tested on a 10GB image and the same thing happened EXCEPT that it worked to use the ghost.exe -ws- -wd- from the command prompt, but that DID NOT work with the larger image.

    Here is my ghosterr.txt (part 1)

    I have the exact same problem and have tried a few times but can't get any help on here.  Have you had any luck finding a solution? This board is TERRIBLE about getting a reply.  Next time it's license renewal time I'm going to propose we find an alternative imaging program.  We pay too much for this license to not get any help.  The problem is exactly the same down to the command line switches to prevent a memory allocation error.  As near as we can tell, it's not a server memory (or lack thereof ) problem, and no network problems are apparent.

    AZPCTech,

    Try using these two command line switches:

    -wd-  -ws-

    Note that each of these switches are both preded by and followed by a hyphen. These switches turn off disk read caching and disk write caching, respectively. This has been used successfully in the past to overcome this issue.

    desktop.services.ben@gmail.com,

    I apologize for your experiences in the Ghost forums. Please note that the intention of the Ghost forums is a user community and not technically a place for direct issue support. Ghost technicians and engineers often take the time to answer requests for support here, but this is not an alternative to having a support contract and calling support. The license you are referring to in your post entitles to call support nad have a technician assigned to you who will actively troubleshoot your issue. Again, I apologize if your experience in the forums has been less than helpful to you.

    I have tried all sorts of command line switches.  The -ws- -wd- switches worked to fix a memory allocation error we were receiving earlier, but this is another issue which the switches don't seem to have any effect on.  I am impressed with the speed of response, however, and appreciate your taking the time to attampt to help.

    In researching further I have come across a person who states that having an ATI Radeon video card caused some kind of conflict that caused this error.  I understand that it doesn't make a lot of sense that a video card would cause an error like this, but I have seen some strange behaviors of programs due to video card problems.  Any thoughts on this subject?

    Ben,

    I see a reference to the video card issue in one of our documents, linked here;

    Using Ghost with a Dell OptiPlex 7xx computer
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2007091316494160

    I imagine that card is probably factory standard for those specific machines. That being said, those particular machines (in this case I am talking about Dell Optiplex 745 & 755s) rarely give issues if the NIC drivers are updated. There was a BIOS update for those that was crucial. The issue with the Radeon (and now I am speaking more generally) and some BIOS types could possibly be an issue. Again, this is speculation. But if it is suspected that an ATI Radeon card is the cause, testing it by disabling the card and trying again would be worthwhile. This would at least let us isolate the casue and troubleshoot from there. If this were found to be the case, the first recommendation I would give for a resolution would be to update the BIOS.
