Many thanks for the reply.
I will try to explain much better. In the first case I will leave the Ghost console turned off so that no tasks or the client settings in the computer object in the console have any effect and will start the ghost server only. If I use PXE, 3 Com boot services, PCDos with the generic PXE driver I can connect to the ghost server and image the computer successfully. Unicast or Multicast both are fine.
With the same physical machine if I now start the Ghost console and set the computer object to use PCDos and the generic driver a Ghost Console task will fail with the DOS client unable to contact the ghost session. It loads PCDos and the driver ok, picks up the MAC address of the NIC and sits there trying to contact the Ghost Server. I have tried a couple of NDIS drivers and all present the same.
So the problem with PCDos only presents when using a Ghost console task, PXE with the same settings work fine. Other types of computers work fine.
If I set the computer object in the Ghost console to use WinPE the computer will boot into WinPE, connect to the console and do a configure task ok but an image task fails with the error above.
So I am unable to run an image task from the Ghost Console but I can use WinPE to do a configure task.
Hope this makes more sense.
Again many thanks for your reply.
