I'm trying to run the pgpwde --recover cmd and I keep getting Error code -12220: Disk already managed. Any ideas?

Can you please post status of your disk with additional commands:

    C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop>pgpwde --status

    C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop>pgpwde --enum

Please check if in Consumers > Consumer Policy > Default > Desktop Button > Drive Encryption  in Symantec Drive Enryption section you have configured Operation "Allow User Management", "Allow Encryption", "Allow Decryption" for Internal Disks and Removable Drives. If not please tick them and apply the policy for this drive.

If you don't have a backup of the data for this disk try to concentrate on recovering data by Slaving the drive to another machine with PGP (most probably you did this). If you do have a backup try decrypt the drive with C:\Program Files (x86)\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop>pgpwde --decrypt --d 3 --passphrase "your passphrase" and check the disk (defrag, bad blocks) and encrypt again. Try to use the latest version of the SED 10.3.1  What type/model of this disk is including laptop model ?

Can you please post a feedback.... on top of my last email I would still check as follow:

    a) try to Slave the drive using USB enclosure not via eSata as the eSata will be treated as internal drive

    b) try to check if you list a users with (pgpwde --list-users) if you had or have a WDE-ADMIN (security group). Having the user in this group you could run the recovery command with this user.

    c) you could still try to Slave the drive to another machine with PGP Standalone version installed WIITHOUT disk encrypted on it and check if running --recover fail or not
