Hi

backups for client are failing, which itself is acting as media server.

when we check the output of vmoprcmd -d , tpconfig -d , it shows drives in upstate and when we do vmoprcmd -hostdevmon -h hostname , it shows drives in down state. and backups are failing with EC 2001

vmoprcmd -hostdevmon -h hostname

and there are many other media server of this family sharing these drives, drives are also down on these media servers and showing same issue. but drives are fine at HW level, i tried mounting and dismounting on drives from master server , wchich was working fine. on media server i found following

D:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\bin>tpautoconf -report_disc

Please share all relevant info:

NBU version

OS (incl patch level and bit version) on Media server.

Please ensure that you have VERBOSE entry in vm.conf on media server to enable Media Manager level logging. Restart NBU after adding this entry.

Aftter adding VERBOSE and restarting NBU, try to UP the drives from either CMD or the GUI. Let us know what happens.

media server Windows2003 5 Windows Media Server 6.5.2A Connected

Operating System Windows 2003 SP 2.0  (media server)

entry VERBOSE updated in vm.conf file and services bounced . tried making the drives up and nothing happened, all drives are still down in output of

 vmoprcmd -hostdevmon -h media server

The attempt to UP the drives will be logged in Event Viewer Application log on the media server.

Please check Application and System log for errors.

What is the output for these media servers when you run 'nbemmcmd -listhosts -verbose' on the master?

Drives are listed as needing cleaning.

You need an OpenVision to see the truth about Backups. Restores are a plus. But that's just Semantics ;)

ITs easy :)

You had the same problem earlier this year: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/drive-not-ready-or-inoperable

You never came back to us on that one?
