The Support Group are "Altiris Level 1 Workers".
All of them get this error when starting the Console, Worker or Winuser. Result is they do not get to see all the incidents. Only a small red-cross in the left side of the area where normaly the incidents are shown.
When in Console clicking on the Reports/Shortcuts-TAB also error:
[An error occured constructing the tree from the XML provided by the server:"Nodes.Count" is null or not an object]

The Altiris-Supervisor and Altiris-Administrator do not have this issue
So I made (for testing) Level 1 Workers members of the Altiris-Supervisors. Did not solve.
I extracted AltirisNSConsole.cab to system32 and registered them all manually. Did not get any errors.
    No improvement

I have enabled/prompt all ActiveX in IE.
    No improvement

So, it is my guess it has to do something with the OS of the clients and/or GPO's, security or whatever.
    What am I missing here?
    Anyone suggestions?

    thx

Created a new domain user with local-admin. Chose the lowest security in IE possible. Altiris server is listed as Intranet Site.

Starte Altiris Console and what I did not see before, Console wanted to run AexClipboard.cab and VSFlex8.cab.
Extraction went fine, but the process behind that did not as it kept on asking for those two CAB files
So extracted again manually and registered all files manually
The good part is, the helpdesk workers now can see their incidents
Bad part is when I select Reports-TAB, it still askes me to run AexNSConsole.cab (strange as all are extracted/registered manually) and after that I still get the error :
[An error occured constructing the tree from the XML provided by the server:"Nodes.Count" is null or not an object]
So, which OS/IE configuration is wrong?

For the first test, were they local admins? You reflected you got further when relaxing that privilege. The supported method is to run the AltirisNSCABInstaller.exe from  \\(NS Name)\NSCap\Bin\Win32\X86\NS CAB Installer Package. In addition, have you granted the role rights to the report tab?

Thx Jim for responding. But I have looked at all of that already:

In this environment, users are not Local Admins. That is why I made a temporarely domain user with local admin rights and Altiris Supervisor Role to see what happens.
It made a difference in Incidents, but bot in Reports (see y "One step closer" above)

I have also done AltirisNSCABInstaller.exe (what does this do differently as by doing the extract/registering manually?)

On the Reports tree, Level 1 Workers have (exept for Edit- and Delete Altiris Permissions and Save Reports) the same permissions as Supervisors (=Read Altiris System Permisions, Run Reports)

There is one user with local admin and Supervisor role and everything works
When I add my temporarely user as Local Admin and Supervisor Role, it still does NOT work
So, yes you are right in it is something on the local workstations... but what?

    Regards,
    Guido

is not a whole lot different, it is extracting the files to the IE download folder (wherever active-x controls go) and then doing the registering for you. I guess the only difference is this is listed as the 'supported method'. One thing to note, try modifying the privs a bit, and granting read resource data.
