After installing the software the following window appears:

PGP runs silently and without any problems. Anything to worry about?

Have a look at the suggestion PGP_Ben posted in this thread:

You will not be able to perform disk encryption operations if there is a problem with PGPwde.kext.

I have seen this issue a few times on Mavericks, and it can often be fixed by simply performing a reinstallation over the top of the existing installation.  For some reason, on the initial installation, it has an issue installing the kernel extension, and I don't know if a reason has been discovered yet, as it happens infrequently, and is near impossible to reproduce (since uninstall/reinstall or an over-the-top reinstall both will fix it).

Let me know if the issue persists after reinstallation.

Alex and Mike both have valid answers. Great first steps, and Alex's link directly relates, as another person has previously had this same problem.

Additionally, you may see this error if there is already some form of encryption on the drive. Are you using FileVault? If so, a re-install will not resolve the problem. If you do use, or have used Filevault in the past, and need to install PGP Desktop with Disk Encryption, you will want to see the following article.

Re-purposing Mac systems that have been previously encrypted with Symantec Drive Encryption or Apple FileVault encryption - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH212938

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

I've never been using FileVault so I tried a reinstall and didn't encounter this error again.

    Thanks for your support.
