  • 1.  Error importing software into Software Catalog

    Posted Jul 23, 2015 09:07 AM

I am using Symantec Management Console 7.6 and am trying to import a software package into the Software Catalog. I open the Software Catalog and click Import. For the package source I chose Access package from an existing UNC. I enter in the location and click Display Location. The package contents appear and when I click Next I receive this error There was a problem parsing the submitted installation file. I receive this error for any software packages I try to import. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it? Thanks.

Is there an error in the NS log file?

    The log shows this error

Failed to retrieve file details: Failed to open Windows Installer database: \\moof\SWLibrary\Windows\Oracle\Java\x32\jre1.8.0_51\jre1.8.0_51.msi

Maybe the Altiris Service Account ("Application identity") doesn't have and needs access to \\moof\SWLibrary. Try creating a package from a directory on the Notification Server and see if that works.
