    Hello.

We use Outlook 2010 with MS Exchang server and DESKTOP EMAIL ENCRYPTION 10.3.2

On some letters, not all, we see the following result:

      - letter is not decrypted automatically

      - in the PGP Log appears line: Email Error MAPI Proxy: Caught PGPSE_Exception exception in CreateDecypheredMsg. Exception code 0xc0000005
      - the letter can be read only on the PGP Viewer.

    Thank you for advance.

    Alexey.

Are the emails coming from a source that also uses Symantec Desktop Email Encrytion, or are they possibly using GPG or another solution based on OpenPGP?  Sometimes other OpenPGP-baed program will have altered the mail in a way that prevents it from decrypting successfully in Outlook, but still has a valid PGP-encrypted block that the viewer will pick up on and decrypt.

Since it is not occurring on every email, I would suspect something in the senders environment might be responsible.  See if you can narrow it down to a specific sender or group of senders.  If you can find a common link, see if you can find out what those senders are using to encrypt.

    Aleksey,

Do you use 10.3.2 MP3 - if not can you try MP3

    - Also does the communication between sender and recipient is in Russian language ?
    - If yes do you see this error if the communication is in English ? Can you try ?
    - Does it happen with specific emails/sender/recipient.?  Are you able to match the difference in messages which do not have this issue ?

As far as I remember we had this issue long time ago and it was related to message with embedded double-byte content which was not decrypted but this was with the older version PGP 10.1.X and the fix was applied in newer release. Double-Byte content ( so for every character two bytes were used ) but Russian should not exceed 256 charcters. Chinese, Japanese and Korean exceed 256 character limit so they require multi-byte enconding.

If you use SEMS server can you check the logs postfix / if not can you setup a debug mode on standalone client:

HOW TO: Add Debug Level Logging on Windows 7 for Symatec Encryption Desktop (previously PGP Desktop)

    Hello,

I think I have some more information for you. This error also occurs with version 10.3.2 MP4.

I was able to reproduce the error with encrypted mails that have other encrypted mails in the attachment.

In this case the recipient cannot decrypt the mail in Outlook (only with the PGP Viewer) and also I'm not able to decrypt the mail in the send item box in Outlook.

Is this a bug or is it by design?

    Thanks in advance

    Carsten

I have now discovered a further problem. I am sure that the original format of the mail was html, but now I see in the Sent Items folder it's in Rich Text format.
