Error Mapping Drive
Hi,
I have used Backup Exec System Recovery on a Windows 2003 Server to make backups. The backups are placed on a Windows XP machine and are done by using a share on the Windows XP Machine.
My problem is when I try to do a restore. After booting on the SRD disk version 8.53 i am not able to map the share drive on the Windows XP machine. It says wrong username or password even though it is correct.
I can map a drive on antoher Windows 2003 Server.
The only way I can map the drive on the Windows XP machine is to start regedit on the machine booted with SRD and then set
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\lmcompatibilitylevel to 0 instead of the default 3.
Is there a way to make XP accept lmcompatibilitylevel 3 so i dont have to start regedit to do a restore??
Thanks,
Jacob

What's the specific error you see?
Have you tried changing this value on the XP machine itself? More info here:

Hi,
Yes i have tried to set the same setting on the Windows XP machine to 3.
I have tried from a command prompt on the machine booted on the SRD disk to do the mapping:
net use z: \\10.30.70.102\backup /USER:10.30.70.102\backup
When asked for backup the correct password is given.
The error is then:
System error 1326 has occurred.
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
If using command
net use z: \\10.30.70.102\backup /USER:10.30.70.102\backup backup
The error is:
Error 86 - the specified network password is not correct
Have you tried going to Network-->Map a Network Drive? Does this work?

Hi,
Thank a lot for your answers.
I looked in the Microsoft article and found out that the time difference between the two machines must not be over 0,5 hour.
I checked and the machine booting with the SRD disc was one year off. When setting this correct i was able to do the mapping.
Thanks,
Jacob
