Ghost Solution Suite

when trying to take an image of an xp client pc via the ghost console it is failing at the clone stage with the message - 'client cannot handle message'.
its a trailware version of solution suite 2 that i am using.
anyone any ideas what this means as there is nothing that i can find to help

That generic failure usually is the result of the client being sent a message to do something by the server that it doesn't understand; it's supposed to arise only as a consequence of version mismatches between the two ends, which shouldn't be the case for a trialware install.

Just a few days ago I got an e-mail report from a customer that mentioned something similar in respect to a failed task, where Ghost Walker crashed - this same text ended up in the console task log.

When this failure occurred did the client enter Ghost and did the clone complete successfully? It may be that there is an error in the code that is handling failed clone operations.

I seem to have the exact problem with my trial version. When I first tryed the Clone backup image, the image file was saved on a separate FAT32 partition (on the client). And it completed successfully (even with the error displayed on event log). But when I try to make a backup on the server or on the client's partition using NTFS, the backup fail. The event log, again, shows the same error. I'm not sure what is causing this error (NTFS or something else)....

Can you help me?

i'm having the same problem with my solution 2.0 trial version. just licensed it and have 118 days remaining.
looking for ideas. thanks.

Would you be able to provide more information on your task and error -

In console can you right click on the task and select Task Scenario then copy it here?
Likewise with the error message in console, can you go to View - Task Log.  If you export this to file you can copy and paste the task which failed. That way people can see the progression before it gave an error.

Also are these clean installs; as in is this the first time you've install trialware on the console and client machines?

btw how were you able to get 118 days remaining - my trialware doesn't last for that long.
