In trying to backup a Windows 7 workstation there is an error message generated after Ghost has successfully connected to the workstation, "To Virtual Partition: Drivers could not be found in the PreOS for the following device, @oem2.inf,%intel%......" I am not making a boot disk, just backing up the computer. Where or how do you add drivers to a backup regime and where can I find the drivers?  Thanks in advance for your help and interest.  Michael

    Hi Michael,

You need to add the storage controller and NIC drivers via Ghost Boot Wizard (GBW) which are very essential to connect the ghost console / ghost cast server. in pre-os. Please add appropriate drivers with respect to the make of machine and give it a try.

I will assume you are using Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 and have used LiveUpdate to bring your version to 11.5.1.2266

I will also assume that your boot environment is WinPE as this offers the highest compatibility and support with modern hardware.

The version of WinPE used in GSS 2.5 is version 2, which is based on the Vista 32 bit kernel. When WinPE boots, it needs to be able to communicate via the NIC and also to access the hard disk subsystem on your machine. So you need to add the Vista 32 bit drivers for the NIC in your system, and you may also need to add the necessary SATA drivers for your hard disk subsystem if WinPE does not recognise your SATA chipset natively.

As Ghosti mentioned above, the Ghost Boot Wizard is the tool which enables you to add driver support for your hardware.

Thank you both for your help.  The only Intel driver I can find for the NIC, on the Intel website, is a self extracting exe file.  I copied the 4 files that are listed on the driver property tab for the NIC but when I select them in the Ghost Boot Wizard a message says there are no drivers to be found.  Any suggestions?

    Hi ,

You need to extract .inf file from those exe's. Execute the exe and it will extract the drivers somewhere in C:\Intel folder (Not sure, please confirm). Then provide this folder path in GBW. GBW will take .inf file along with essential sys and cat files and  will add them into ghost driver database.

What were the four files you presumably extracted from the EXE?

Please specify which Intel chipset your system has, and the PNP ID  (obtainable from device manager for the NIC in a running operating system)
