  • 1.  error in uninstallation of software

    Hi guys,

     

    I am trying to remotly  uninstall a software through symantec management console ,

     

    An error comes ;

     

    This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

     

    Kindly help to unistall a software without user interaction via symantec software management solution.

    What package are you trying to uninstall, what command line are you using?

    I am trying to uninstall Yahoo messenger for testing..

     

    source package : yahoo messenger

    Uninstalltion command : auto generated and i used GUID code .

    detection rule is ,, application metering.

    Hi Mirza,

     

     I not sure what could be causing this issue may be you are missing out something.

     

    You might need to check if it the same version you are trying to uninstall. If the package you have is of different version then the one what is uninstalled then it might not work.

    If the package is present in Add/Remove programs, you can find its Uninstallstring in the registry. This will give you an idea of what sort of command line is required for uninstall.
