Error when attempting to run BIOS Settings package produced by Dell Client Configuration Utility
Hi folks
I have been attempting to enable Wake on LAN features in the BIOS of a Dimension 3000 computer running Win XP SP3 - apparently the motherboard does support Wake on LAN, but the options are not available as standard in the Dell BIOS - I gather that I can use the Dell Client Configuration Utility (DCCU) to enable the necessary options using a DCCU 'BIOS Settings package', and indeed the Wake on Lan options do appear to be exposed when the DCCU is used to query the BIOS settings. My problem is, when I try to run the BIOS settings package that includes the newly enabled WakeOnLAN options, the execution of the package fails with an error that begins 'Faulting application OMCAClientModule.exe, version 3.0.1213.0'. Does anybody know why this settings package is failing? Should I be using a different version of OMCAClientModule.exe ?
Thankyou for any advice you might be able to provide in helping me out with this.
Regards

What version of DCCU do you use?

Hi there
Thanks for responding, sorry I haven't been back to check the thread, I can only face messing about with this DELL BIOS once every 21 weeks.
I currently have tried running DCCU 3.1.1045 on Win XP SP3 32-bit, on a Dimension 3000 flashed to BIOS A03 - this is the problem:
After running the SETTINGS.EXE output from DCCU, in order to flash the bios automatically, an OMCAClientModule.exe error is generated, and the flash process fails, with a failure entry in TaskResults.xml
The same occurs if I manually run the BiosUpdate_Flash.exe (instead of using the Settings executable to do so.
Neither of these failures seem to damage the existing BIOS config (fortunately!)
What kind of reasons could make OMCAClientModule crash - unfortunately XP just logs a generic ID 1000 error, with no details. Possibly the BIOS is Read Only for the Wake On LAN setting, even though DCCU shows a drop-down list box with selectable options implying it is writeable.
Thanks very much
