Updated: 09 Jun 2010 | 5 comments
Hi Team.
Can someone assist me.
We moved our backup solution from 1 server to another.
Now when i insert our media and try a Catalog i get this error.
Can someone assist me?
(Server: "ZA-PTA-DC01") (Job: "Catalog 00011") Catalog 00011 -- The job failed with the following error: The requested media is not listed in the media index and could not be mounted. To add the media's catalog information to the disk-based catalogs, run an inventory operation on the media and resubmit the Catalog operation.

Hi Dominik. I re-installed
Hi Dominik.
I re-installed backup exec from scratch.
And if i look at the link you sent it states.
Do not follow this procedure if any of the following are true.
-The computer where Backup Exec is installed and the computer where it will be installed are running two different versions of the Windows Operating System.
The 1st server had Windows 2008 R2 x64 running on it and the new server has Windows 2003 x32 running on it.?
What do i do now?
Try the following
If both servers are still present, you could use the following steps to copy your data:
please note:
Go to "Tools" -> "Install options and license keys on this media server" and check if the free option to copy server configuration, named "copy server configurations", is installed on the media server. If not, please install it.
copy the data:
1. bring both servers online
2. copy catalog and job log directory onto the new server so they are present on both servers
3. go to "job setup" on the old server, select one policy which you want to copy to your new server, do a right click on it and choose copy.
a. Select „copy to other media servers“
b. click on „add“ and add the new 32-bit media server
c. copy the data (OK)
5. Do this for every Policy and selection list
4. Please check if all data has been correctly added to the new server
After all you have to create the Jobs from the policy again, of course.
best regards
Dominik
If this solves your problem, I would appreciate if you mark my post as the solution. Thank you!

Hi Dominik. Thanks for the
Thanks for the reply sorry about the slow response from my side just been hectically busy.
With regards to your point 2. can you please be a bit more specific.
I have the following folder structure.
C:\
Program Files
Symantec
Backup Exec
Catalog
MYSERVERNAME
(XLM files)
Which would look like this then...
Program Files
Symantec
Backup Exec
Catalog
MYSERVERNAME
(XLM files)
MYOLDSERVERNAME
(XLM files)
No problem. Just copy the
No problem.
Just copy the content (xml files) of the folders into the folders on the new server:
from the old server:
C:\
Program Files
Symantec
Backup Exec
Catalog
MYOLDSERVERNAME
(XLM files)
to the new server:
Program Files
Symantec
Backup Exec
Catalog
MYNEWSERVERNAME
(XLM files)
Do not create new folders, just use the already created folder with the new servername.
I hope that is understandable, if not, just ask.
