  • 1.  Error when upgrading to DS 6.9 SP2

I'm trying to upgrade from DS 6.9 to 6.9 SP2 and keep getting Error 132, telling me that files are locked and to stop all Altiris services and processes manually. I made sure to do this prior to running the install but I believe that somewhere during the installation process the services get restarted. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a way to stop them and continue the install from where the error occured. The installation just goes back to the beginning and keeps hitting the same point.

Has anyone had this problem and gotten around it?

I have never had this issue, but make sure to stop these services:  Altiris Deployment Server DB Management, Altiris Deployment Server Data Manager, & Altiris eXpress Server.  Also, check for any open files that are Altiris DS related:  express.exe, etc...

    Hope this helps!

What I tend to do for upgrades is
    1. set the server firewall to reject everything
    2. close down my altiris apps (console, configuration tool etc..)
    3. reboot (this kicks out any TS connections from other admins, and any Altiris apps are closed off)
    4. On restart, log into the server at the console (or use mstsc.exe /console)
    5. stop all the altiris services
    6. Upgrade DS
    7. Set the firewall configuration back
    8. Reboot
    9. Check all is well
Don't worry about the install failing half way through. The DS install is a full install package, so it will redo some of the old ground before getting to the point where it failed before. Hopefully this time though, it will proceed smoothly....

The process saves all the process and locked file hunting.... I am rather zelous with reboots though I do admit...

    Kind Regards,
