I am using CentOS 6.5 64 bit. I am trying to install Symantec DLP on it. While following setps described in Symantec DLP 14.0 Oracle installation guide i am getting the following error.

xhost:  unable to open display "172.16.10.10:0.0"

I have ran the following commands on remote CentOS server (IP Address = 172.16.10.11) which i am accessing through ssh. My Windows machine through which i am accessing CentOS server via putty has IP Adress=  172.16.10.10

    1) export DISPLAY=172.16.10.10:0.0

    2) su -l root

    3) xhost +SI:localuser:oracle

At last command it is giving me error:-    xhost:  unable to open display "172.16.10.10:0.0"

I have even tried giving the IP Address of CentOS Server. export DISPLAY=172.16.10.11:0.0 but still getting the error  xhost:  unable to open display "172.16.10.11:0.0"

Can anyone kindly help or guide me what i am doing wrong? Thanks.

The export display command would send the display from X server to your Windows box. In order for that to work you need to have an X server set up on your Windows system to recieve that input. Your Oracle box likely doesnt have X server on it either in which case the export doesnt go anywhere.

In this case your best options are to temporarily install X onto the Linux server or to install Oracle from a template file rather than manually. Symantec does not provide the template file but you can create one from another system as necessary. You can also instal an X server on your Windows system which will then take the display from the Linux system and show it on the windows box.
