Error while opening Virtual Vault Item

Couple of my users have got this error popped up on their outlook when they try to access/open an item from the virtual vault. This error is displayed in Reading pane with a link to view original item.

"An administrative policy prevents you from viewing this item in the reading pane"

Could someone please assist in letting me know what is causing this and how to resolve this?

Also, all these users are under a policy that states "Do not store items in cache". Is this causing this issue?

It isn't so much an error as it is an information message.  If the item isn't stored in the Vault Cache there can't be a preview to it. 

Any idea why it is set to not store items in the cache?

Alright.. The reason we have set the policy that way is because the users work on HVDs which does not have local disks.

 

But, the concern is that, this message comes only on few archived messages and not on every item in the vault.

Interesting, could you enable a client trace and then post that here?

It's caused by the setting 'Show content in Reading Pane' in your Virtual Vault advanced settings under the applicable Desktop Policy. The default is to only show content in the Reading Pane when it is available in Content Cache.

It's there to stop the add-in downloading items from the server when viewed in the reading pane. (For example, someone could be using the arrow keys to navigate down a long list of messages, and each one would be opened in the reading pane and cause an immediate download of the archived content).
