EV 10 Missing OWA Icons

Created: 09 Sep 2013 | 7 comments

Hello All

We are using Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 (on windows 2008 R2) with Exchange 2003 SP2. We have a front-end and a back-end setup.

We have 3 mail servers and suddenly icons disappeared when accessing OWA from one of the mail servers.

I have on the server in question:

- Reinstalled the OWA extensions
- ran cscript owauser.wsf /domain:domain /user:username /password:password
- Verified the EVnon directory>anonymous user is correct
- Restarted IIS on Exchange Server
- Restarted evadmin service and IIS on the EV server
- Ran evort.exe on the exchange server with no errors (I assume Exchange is configured correctly??)

Please advise.

Thank you

Did you check the back-end configuration as well?

On affected exchange server, have you installed any exchange SP OR Hot Fix? OR Have you install HF on other servers but not in affected server?

The OWA icons are basically nothing but exchange control files. There can be 2 possibilities, either extensions are not able to fetch the hidden message from users mailbox or incorrect control files. Troubleshooting Exchange 2003 OWA - EV integration somtimes takes time to understand and find the cause.

Can you post following from affected Backend (Mail) Server?

1. Backend2003setup.wsf.log

2. ****controls.wsf.log

You will find these logs under EV OWA extensions installation directory. (C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault\OWA)

Just FYI,

You can add files as attachments, it will keep the thread easy to read and also let the config file be easier to read.  :)

Ran the following cscript backend2003setup.wsf /formregdomain:domain.local

Now receive the following error when opeing an email in owa

invalid URIL The format of the URI could not be determined
