Hello All,

A very small query in relation to the client installation.

I have an environment wherein, 2 or more users share the same PC.

I ran the EV_Client (Outlook Addin) installation  on it but

1. Do i need to install the client for each profile on that PC?
2. Why are the icons and email-shortcuts not visible on some users even though the emails are archived. (It reads in the Preview Pane that this message has been archived)
3. Is there an automated process for client installation on each profile?

Please help.

Regards,

GauravAditya

Hi GauravAditya, 1) No one

Hi GauravAditya,

1) No one install will suffice for all profiles.
2) Is the client installed? if it is run resetevclient.exe
3) As I stated, you do not install the EV Client for a profile, its irrelevant.......

1. No, one time is enough 2.

1. No, one time is enough
2. What is your "Deploy Forms Locally" setting in the Desktop Policy -> Advanced -> Outlook? You should set this to "Always"
3. There is no need to install it "per-profile", you install it on a per-machine basis.

Cheers

I am doing the exact same

I am doing the exact same thing (except resetevclient.exe)

The configuration is exactly as mentioned by Wayne and MichelZ's post, still the icons and email shortcuts dont appear.

Secondly, do i need to run resetevclient.exe for all users individually as this will be a hectic task. And is this a normal task to do for such PCs ?

The steps i performed is as below: -
1. I created the policies (Mailbox, Desktop and PST Migration), then created a Provisioning Group and set targets to the users of that PC
2. Ran the installation of the EV_Client (while Logged in as administrator)
3. Configured and scheduled the Provisioning Task for a specific time. (Applied the changes and restarted the task)
4. Configured and scheduled the Mailbox Archiving task for a specific time. (Applied changes and restarted the task)

Now all i see is that the mailbox is getting archived but the with the issue mentioned above "the icons and email shortcuts dont appear"...

Please advise.

To enable tracing if you

To enable tracing if you can't enable it in the client ..

Ensure Outlook is closed
Open regedit
Go to : hkey_current_user\software\kvs\enterprise vault\client
Add LoggingLevel DWORD
Set the value to 3
Start Outlook

The log file will be generated by default in the equivalent of :-

C:\Users\robert_wilcox\AppData\Local\Temp
or
c:\documents and settings\robert_wilcox\AppData\Local\Temp

Hope that helps,

version and forms.

If using forms, check to see if they have been properly uploaded to the public folder.
Any different languages?
As Wayne and Michel say, use 'deploy always' if possible.
