EV client options not available in Outlook when I use Autodiscover to setup Outlook profile

Using: EV 8.0.1 with Outlook client extensions, Exchange 2007, Outlook 2007.  When I setup Outlook using the autodiscover feature, I cannot eccess the EV archive options (right click mailbox > Enterprise Vault tab).  The only option available is "Suspend Enterprise Vault archiving for this mailbox", nothing else is on the tab.  However, if I setup the Outlook profile manually I can see all the options as expected.  The Desktop policy for RPC over HTTP restrictions is set to None.  I can see all the buttons, etc., I just cannot see the archive options.  What gives?

Http.  I did get this

Http.  I did get this response back from support:

"Basically we can not force Outlook to use a specific client type (http or dcom). During the discovery the connection is not made so we must check other means to determine the expected connection type. When Outlook opens it has not yet made a connection but the EV client extensions must determine what it should be using based on the following:

1) Are RPC flags set to true? yes, use HTTP
2) No? Then are self install functions set? yes? use HTTP
3) No? Use DCOM

So in your environment even though the connection type does connect as TCP/IP, the initial discovery for the client type is already set as "use HTTP" hence why you don't see all the options on the EV tab. To see the EV tab and all options, the client has to be using the dcom EV Client. There are currently no plans to change this behavior..."

Any way to force this to dcom after the profile has been created?

Hi Could you test this

Hi

Could you test this registry key on the Client:

DCOMOverrideRPCHTTP

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\SOFTWARE
\KVS
\Enterprise Vault
\Client

DWORD

0 — (Default) Do not test for the availability of full Enterprise Vault
Outlook Add-In connectivity for Outlook clients that are configured
to use RPC over HTTP.

Non-zero — Test for the availability of full Enterprise Vault Outlook
Add-In connectivity for Outlook clients that are configured to use RPC over HTTP.

If the Outlook client is configured to use RPC over HTTP, Enterprise Vault provides HTTP-only Outlook Add-In functionality.
When DCOMOverrideRPCHTTP is enabled, Enterprise Vault tests
regularly for the availability of full Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In
connectivity. If a full Outlook Add-In connection is available, the
following manual actions operate in full Outlook Add-In mode: Archive, Restore, Delete, and changing folder settings.
The test for full Outlook Add-In connectivity is performed on startup.
The test is repeated at the intervals that the registry value
DCOMPollInterval defines.

Cheers
Michel

You will also need the Full

You will also need the Full Client installed.  Make sure you have the full client installed before you try any of the above steps.

As he states: "if I setup the Outlook profile manually I can see all the options as expected."

If Michaels suggestion does

If Michaels suggestion does not work try this.

Create a new key:

UseSelfInstallFunct

Location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
 \SOFTWARE
  \KVS
   \Enterprise Vault
    \Client

Value sould be 0 see if that gives you the dcom client.

I added the registry entries

I added the registry entries as suggested, but neither of them seem to work in changing the client mode (even after reboots).  On the EV Information page, it still shows RPC over HTTP flage=39, and Skipping DCOM test as checked.

No other ideas, sorry!
Seems like you have to open a case with SYMC to get this one resolved.

I was not asking you to run

I was not asking you to run it i was asking you to check it was there, simply to verify we are 100% sure you have the full client installed. The http client does not ship with ResetEVClient.exe :)

No worries, I had actually

No worries, I had actually run it before you had asked - in the off chance that it did something to change the client.

Any updates?

Any updates on the situation?  Did you log a ticket with Symantec and was there a resolution?

My second comment in this

My second comment in this thread was support's resoponse to the ticket I opened with them.  Basically, they said it can't be done.
