EV Domino Archiving and Notes Client EV Meny Options

Hello again ..

EV 9.0.3 and Notes/Domino 8.5.1

In testlab!

Archiving tested ok

EVDominoExporter restore tested ok

Cleanup with Lotus Scripting ok

Notes Client EV Menu Option  does not work!

Default installation with all menu options .. 

Got this error message for menu option "Restore Archive"

"Select at least one non-archived message and try again"

Grateful for any suggestions :O)

You got that trying to Restore?  Seems like you would see that message trying to Archive an item.

Now I have tested all menu selections and no menu selection works!

Need some help with troubleshooting suggestions ..

Hello Bo, 

You have written that no menu selection works, could you be more precise? I mean what happens when you select 'Enterprise Vault Store' or 'Enteprise Vault Search'. I do not expect you are getting the same error message of when you try to restore an archived item.

By the way do you properly see the items archived by Enterprise Vault (with the proper icon)?

Did you get any errors applying the ev_mail85.ntf template?

Hi Massimo ..

It works to archive an message!

Error message when I try to restore!

Search ask for a login and I'm not sure what login to use .. ev service accunt does not work

Delete does not work!

Hi Bo,

For the EV Search authentication you need to use the user credentials from Domino (user name or shortname + internet password), but about it we are going out of the original topic.

Ok you are saying that the restore is not working, could we have:

- screenshot of the error

- Dtrace of the processes nserver, storageonlineopns while you attempt a restore

- client log as pointed out by Tony

PS: you mention 'Delete does not work', what are you getting exactly?

1. Search works fine using user creds ;O) - solved

2. Delet "Screenshot of error message" =  "select at least one non-archived message and try again"

Translated!

2.1 I dont understand what you mean with "storageonlineopns while you attempt a restore" ..??

3. DTRACE - check it tomorrow

4. Client log as... - have added lines to Notes Ini and restarted the client but cannot find any evlog.nsf on the local client!

Following the technote (use the command line) http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH38122 you enable the dtrace of the processes nServer and StorageOnlineOpns and then you try an Enterprise Vault Restore or Enterprise Vault Delete from the client; we need the dtrace created, when you launch the restore (and retrieve) we are querying the EVDG server to pick up the proper item from the Vault Store Partition, the dtrace will reveal if something is wrong on the server side.

You wrote also

Are you trying to restore a memo item or some other forms?

What happens if you open an archived item, can you see the item in its original format?

Yes ,, archiving works fine and we are able to open and read all kind of messages!

Hi Massimo ..

1. Running DTRACE for NSERVER and StoargeOnLineOpns!

2. Try to recover from archive with Note Client's EV Menu Option

3. Checking log

4. Result = nothing logged

5. Run a Provison in report mode to check DTRACE function and it was logged!

Problem solved!

I almost feel ashamed to tell what caused the error ..

No backup and archived email ... In pending state!
