This issue has been solved. See solution.

Tell me please, does Exchange journal task has any items\emails limit? I mean the following case:

EV server fail, Journal task doesn' work. Exchange server collects journaling envelopes to journal mailbox. Journaling mailbox unlimited. For my question it is doesn't important why EV fail.

So, EV not available 4 days. On 5-th days we recover EV functionality and tasks start working. Is there any items\limitation in journaling mailbox from EV side. I meant during this 4 days Exchange has collected millions email in journal mailbox.

Some kind of this behavior:

10 000 email - journaling task works

100 000 email - journaling task works

1 000 000 email - journaling doesn't work, because a lot of messages. For example.

Any email limit\thresholds from EV side?

company has a journaling mailbox, and in 1 year decided to implement Symantec archiving solution. There a lot of work for EV journaling task! ))

Hi Zubkoff,

No it doesnt matter how many items there are in the Journal Mailbox, EV will simply treat each mail as an individual.

The only issue I can see is that when you first start up the Journaling Task we scan the entire Journal Mailbox before we start archiving from it, so if you have an abnormal amount of mails in there it could take a little bit of time to actually start to archive from it, other than that EV isnt concerned with how many mails are in the mailbox, it will simply Archive anything it can that matches the Archiving Policy, which for Journal Mailboxes is everything.

Hope the above helps?
