Hi
Has anyone else had a problem where using site http://evserver/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp that does not prompt for password but when using
http://evserver.fulldomainname/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp this does prompt... This all in intranet because it has not been configured to work from internet yet.
EV server has been set to intranet zone via GPO so shouldn't be about that (Also outlook anywhere prompts for passwords when trying to sync vault cache)
IE settings are set for:user authentication automatic logon only in intranet zone
Where might there be error...??

Adding info:
Outlook anywhere actually prompts for the account/password any time it tries to connect the EV server and it show's that it tries to connect to the whole domain name...

in your intranet zon do you have evserver but not evserver.fulldomainname.com per chance?
What happens if you add it just as a test, does it then go away?
Also do you have a Proxy set up in Internet Explorer and are those servers in the proxy bypass list?
Hi, yes intranet zone includes both the shortname and full domain name of the server... And no there is not proxy set up in the IE...
Other ideas?
Thanks

what version of Windows and IE are you using?
Can you do the following
1. Go to http://yourEVServer.domain.com/EnterpriseVault/ and authenticate
2. If you are on IE8 or below, look in the bottom right hand corner, what zone does it say?
If you are on IE9, right click the page and go to properties, in the middle of the properties screen it will say something like "Internet | Protected Mode: On"
One thing i didn't realise is that by default, IE only believes NetBIOS names are intranet, anything with a dot notation (including IP addresses) will be treated as an Internet (not intranet) site.
I know there is a hotfix for Win7 and Vista that fixes issues with FQDN user prompts when using WebDAV but that should only be for sharepoint type communication and not EV
As http://yourEVServer.domain.com/EnterpriseVault/
First it seem to be internet and this is where it requests the user account and password. After giving those it changes to Trusted sites... So some how it does not recognize this address as a trusted site even though it's in the GPO as such...
As http://yourEVServer/EnterpriseVault/ It says Local intranet...
So there is some sort of difference it being either Local intranet or just trusted site... Is that normal or something "odd" about it?

Hmmm I think I got it and it's still missing from the intranet site the
http://yourEVServer.domain.com/ and that's why it's not working... Have to check that and I'll post here if I'm right and that's that.

Apparently there need to be three forms in intranet zone
evserver
evserver.domain.com
http:/evserver.domain.com
Adding the latest one to the GPO resolved the problem.
Thanks for your efforts to solve this for me! Much appreciated!
