This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
Just upgraded EV server to EV10 and windows 2000 file servers are not supported by EV 10 FSA
Therefore need to migrate a windows 2000 file server to a new windows 2008 R2 file server.
Win 2000 file server was archived by EV and has multiple volumes. What would be the best approach to migrate this file server?
Keep the same name probably would be easier according to this tech note http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH73261
However if we want a new name for this server, can we just use NetBackup to backup file structure and restore to new server?
What if we want to consolidate multiple vloumes into one volume in new server?
Please suggest your expert opinion. BTW - using placeholder shortcuts.
Many Thanks

You *could* use the old FSA agent for a while (EV9 FSA agent supports Windows 2000 as long as you are on sp4...PLEASE say you are at least on sp4.. :) )
There is a whitepaper that might be worth a read : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH147519
File server migrations tend to be a bit of a pain though, so plan carefully!

Jeff
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your comment.
So that means, if we have EV FSA 10.0.1 and we can leave Windows 2000 file server with FSA Agent 9.0.4, is that supported?
Many Thanks
Yes it is SP4
Yep - on page 74 of the compatibility guide:
