This issue has been solved. See solution.

Getting ready to do this this weekend, EV8.0SP2 Server Migration - 2003 x86 --> 2008 x64, and just wanted to know if anyone had done the same recently and if there are any 'gotchas' to be aware of?  I'll be using the data-only DR procedure.  Any comments/information is appreciated.

Thanks,
JV

None that I have come

None that I have come accross. As long as you follow the process as outlined in the Admin guide you should be OK

Just ensure you install and run Deployment scanner before you do your EV install to ensure that everything is OK on the system side

 I would not recommend this

I would not recommend this action unless you have a good reason.  EV is not compiled in 64bit, so there is little performance gain on 64bit OS IMO.

In my experiences the risk of complication is not worth the minimal gain in performance that 64bit and Win2k8 provides.  I will be waiting until 2008 is fully supported on 32bit before allowing any of my customers to install EV on 2008.

Other than that I am sure you have your reasons for doing this.  Please share your result with the rest of the community.

Good Luck,

Mike

i have done this on 4 recent

i have done this on 4 recent occasions and it works great. there are a few complications if you are changing the server name but other than that, just make sure you disable UAC and reboot before you install EV. also, if you have multiple EV servers you'll need to restart the services on all of them after you run the sql command to clear the directory database entries.

Done this as well..

There should not be any issues, I just did this for a customer...I would ensure that you use the same drive letters for the Indexes and Vault Stores for this process. In addition, if you are using SQL Reporting I would keep the reporting functionality on a 32-bit server to continue using all of the report functionality. I agree with AndrewB I would disable UAC and I typically disable the Windows Firewall as well. Might want to disable the Internet Explorer security for admins only.
