  • 1.  Event log error about SEP

    Hi,

    Event log showed an error about SEP Auto-Protection Error.

    But I checked SEP without error.

    Please advise.

    Might be due to corruption of definitions,run symhelp tool and check any error received.

    Event ID 42: Auto-Protect Error: Auto-Protect is disabled because registration of the virus databases failed

    May be the defintion which you have installed is corrupted.

    You can remove it and install it again manually and then check the event is generated.

    Running intelligent updater ref link http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=sep
    , or manually uninstall and reinstalling the SEP software should resolve the issue.

    Defs are corrupt and some drivers are not fucntioning correctly.

    May be best to reinstall
