Event Log errors related to IIS and MSMSE

We have been getting a lot of IIS errors somehow related to MSMSE recently. Each entry points to SMTP218.DLL which is a file located in Symantec\SMSMSE\6.0\Server.

Here are the event log entries:

Faulting application inetinfo.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module SMTP218.DLL, version 6.0.5.218, fault address 0x00004f6d.

Source: Application Error, Event ID: 1000

and

Application popup: inetinfo.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x0b2636ea" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

When clicking on the view technical information for this error it mentions error signatures for inetinfo.exe version 6.0.3790.3959 and SMTP218.DLL version 6.0.5.218

We have MSMSE version 6.0.5.218 installed. The only page I found related to the error is at http://www.eggheadcafe.com/conversation.aspx?messageid=32128329&threadid=32128329 and it does not really help at all. Any solutions or ideas would be appreciated.
