When backing up  Exchange 2003 with GRT enabled my backup fails with:

Backup- \\XXXX\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group Database  was not found, or could not be accessed.
Database  was not found, or could not be accessed.

If I remove GRT, the backup works.

I am using BEX12.5 and Exchange is on the local machine, this is a fairly new installation of the server, about 1 month old.

Any help would be appreciated.

Exchange GRT Fails

Hello,

This is a credential issue. The Backup Exec Service Account must have the following rights to use the GRT functionality.

1  : Member of the Exchange Full Admin on Exchange Server
2  : Must have an active mailbox which is not hidden from the GAL
3  : If exchange is a member server, member of the local admin group.

We can perform a TEST to check the credentials after changing the settings
1  : Open Backup Exec and go to TOOLS-->Options-->Microsoft Exchange
2  : Check the Box "Enable Legacy Mailbox Support" and click OK
3  : Open the Exchange job and Expand Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes....
4  : If we are able to see the mailboxes...we are good....
5  : Disable the Legacy Mailbox Suppor after the TEST.

Please let me know the results...

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...
