Have a strange one, three sites with exchange 2003 servers installed SEP v12 and SMSMSE on all, no issue on two servers. One server at reboot services fail to start. The services can be start manually later and error suggests they timed out at boot.

Services are Backup exec remote agent, MS Search Service, MS Exchange management service and MS Exhange System Attendant service.

we have a workaround to start services after boot if not started using a script but, this only happens with SEP installed.

All servers have the same exceptions, no errors in SEP that I can see.

Are there any steps I can take to prevent SEP delaying the start of other services during boot? or any other suggestions  please?

Event IDs are all generic 7039 for the services that do not start.

Are you on SEP 12.1.5?

What Feature do you have install ?

the services which are not able start automatically, what if you set them to Delayed start?

for the programs have you set necessary exclusions ? Found one for backup exec service

Please exclude the beremote.exec file from the Anti Virus scan. Also, exclude the Program Files\Symamtec\RAWS folder from anti-virus scan

Simillary we may need to check for other programs for necessary exclusions
