Exchange 2007 SP1 - First Information Store not backing up

I had this problem back on 11d, where about 2/3 of the time doing IS backups of a Exchange 2007 SP1 cluster, the first storage group wouldn't backup. The job would complete successfully, no errors. Specifics are here.

Well, upgraded to 12, and the problem went away. I had successful backups for over a week straight. Then yesterday, I applied these two hotfixes:
300287 (X64)
300290 (X64)

Last night, again, the first IS did not backup. No error. The only trace something went wrong (other than the amount backed up) was a message in the backup summary saying 'This backup set may not contain any data', and under Backup Set Detail Information, it makes no reference to the consistency checks.

Anyone else have this problem rear its ugly head again?

There could several reasons for that.

Please refer to the following documents for more information. Some may not list BEWS 12 but they would apply to the same.

"This Backup Set may not contain any data" is reported in the Backup Job log from an attempted file backup of Exchange Information Store data through the Exchange data directories.

A duplicate job that was successful, displays the message "This backup set may not contain any data"

Hello again.

I had the issue in BE 11d as reported in the linked thread. With BE 12 the issue seems to be solved after adjusting the resource order.

After upgrading to BE 12 I noticed the following things:
- Logs where truncated normally
- First storage group wasn't backed up (backup size was zero to be more specific)
- No errors in Clustered Mailbox Server Event log

Once I changed resource order at the backup job properties so that the second storage group  (Public Folder database created during Exchange setup) was set as the first SG to backup, all storage groups where backed up successfully.
