That fix does seem to apply to 7.0 and you are on 7.0.1 but i am not sure if it was included in 7.0.1
The main thing is to make sure that you media server and exchange client are on the same release (version and patch level)
As you are somewhat out of date it would be good if you looked at upgrading your environment (7.1.0.4 or preferably to 7.5.0.4)
Give us a little more detail about your exchange infrastructure and how you have setup your backup job etc

AH! If nothing else patch your client to 7.0.1 - they should always match for exchange backups
And if you can explain your exchange setup and policy setup it will guide us - but maybe try the patch first

Like Mark said you deinflaty need to patch up.
Also, check the status of the writers :
From a command line on the exchange server ( no backups running ) : vssadmin list writers
All should be stable with no error.
If there are errors, you will need to contact Microsoft to find a root cause and prevent this from happening. A quick fix would be to reboot the server to clear out the writers.

reply back with the output.
Also check the application event viewer for any ESE / VSS errors.

I found no errors in vss admin list writers.
Provider name:Microsoft software shadow copy provider 1.0
Im event viewer:I see below error
RBAC authorization returns Access Denied for user
Reason: No role assignments associated with the specified user were found on Domain Controller xxx
Updated the client patch.
Now the backups are failing with 2 and 72.
Pleae help me here to resolve the issue
Please show us all text in Details tab of a Status 2 and Status 72 job.
Please also post policy config. Run this on the master:
bppllist <policy-name> -U

yeah..its incorrect Backup selection in policy + 7.0.1 patch also helped here.
After patch update i was bout to post more details like error message n policy details etc..
but it was resolved before posting ...I ve gone thru some of your posts on exchange DAG backups...
