Exchange 2010 Incremental not being cataloged

Full backup of Exchange 2010 with GRT enabled worked fine and I can see the catalog job has completed. I can then go into search and browse emails, contact etc.

I then modify the backup job as I needed to alter the retention times and to take the incremental (daily) backup relating to this job off hold.

The incremental daily job then completed with exceptions (because I modified the job - no worries on that). I checked and the data is there as expected in the incremental job, but unlike the full job no catalog job has seemingly been run, so I can't browse the incremental jobs data using the search function.

Is this because the job completed "with exceptions?" I could of course catalog the job manually but I don't obviously want to be doing soemthing like that manually!

Any ideas? There are no errors in the alerts apart from the "backed up with exceptions because the job has been modified" and nothing in event viewer.

    Though this technote does not refer to Full or Incremental jobs I think this is relevant in your issue.
