Exchange 2012

Created: 09 Feb 2014 | 3 comments

Hi!

We have one Windows 2012 DC and one Exchange 2013 installed on Win 2012. How should we properly backup both the servers and can we easily restore them in case of server failure.

Secondly, can we also do P2V both for DC and Exh 2013 easily?

Any Documentations?

Thanks.

You need to install the Agent for Applications and Databases license for each of the servers and then push out the remote agent to these servers. You then select the entire server and back them up. To tape, you can use SDR.

Since your backups can do SDR, you can also do P2V. You will need a hypervisor and a hypervisor license to do so

Is adding the server through BE Console not enough? If not then how can we install these agents properly in BE 2012?

Thanks.

No.  Without the remote agent, you would not be able to do GRT restores of individual mail items in Exchange from your VM backup.

You push out the remote agents to the VM's just as you would if they are physical machines, or you can manually install the remote agents in them.
