Hi,

I am bit confused with SEP & Mail Security 7.0.

We need a AV solution for Exchange server but if we install SEP on Exchange will it protect the Information store and Message flow? Do we aldo need considering installing Symantec Mail Security 7 for exchange alsong with SEP or SEP itself is sufficient?

Thank you

hello,

SEP only provide protection against virus.

You can install Symantec Mail Security for mail flow

Symantec Mail Security

Thank you Manish,

What if i only install Symantec SYMC MAIL SECURITY FOR MS EXCHANGE ANTIVIRUS AND ANTISPAM 7.0 and not the SEP only for exchange server?

Also do i need to purchase 200 licenses for 200 users (SYMC MAIL SECURITY FOR MS EXCHANGE ANTIVIRUS AND ANTISPAM 7.0 ) for the email users?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Yes you need 200 License

Symantec Mail Security is licensed by a per-user/per-year subscription license model. So you must purchase the number of license based on the number of users that you want to protect. If you install the product more than the number of license purchased you will be out of compliance.

If you are going to buy an NFR (Not For Resale) license, please be aware that this does not include maintenance or support (entitles you to get a free technical support assistance or free version upgrades if there is a new version release on the product).

You will still want SEP to protect the file system on the Exchange server. SMSMSE only scans that mail store, not the hard drive.
