I believe you are trying to install SEP client on a exchange server. See the below link. SEP has automatic exclusions for exchange 2010 if you are running RU6 MP1 or later. You don't have to do anything special.

Preventing Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 from scanning the Microsoft Exchange 2010 directory structure

If you are trying to install SEP as your e-mail protection, then as mentioned above, the right product is Symantec Mail Security for Exchange Server.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

In your case, it is important that you install the Latest version of SEP 11.x on your Exchange Server.

By Default, Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU6 MP1 and above adds exclusions automatically for Exchange Server 2010.

Preventing Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 from scanning the Microsoft Exchange 2010 directory structure

TECH102249   Preventing Symantec Endpoint Protection from scanning the Microsoft Exchange 2007 directory structure

However, to protect your Exchange Files and Folders, you would require a different Symantec product; i.e; Symantec Mail Security for Exchange.

    Hope that helps!!
