exchnge 2010 backup fails (backupexec 2012)

hi,

 

need some help:

 

when backing up exchange 2010 (mailboxes)  the job fails with log :

 

Unable to complete the operation for the following reason: VFF Open Failure.  This can be caused by low memory or disk resources

 

can anyone familiar with this problem?

 

please advice

Weird...this shows up with BE 2010 and the recommendation was a move to BE 2010 R2.

So this should have been dealt with in BE 2012. Have you installed SP2 and then push-installed the updates out to the remote servers?

i updated to sp2 and installd the new agent last week, still fails

Make the following changes create/modify the below key on the Media Server

Key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VirtFile
Value: VFF Extended Timeout
Type: DWORD
I set the value to 240.

i didnt undestand please, should i do it at the exchange server? or the backup server?

If the extended timeout edit doesnt work initially you can increase the value of the time out to 480 and try again and then 600 See tech note below for documentation
