  • 1.  Execute a SWD policy or task via command line?

Pardon me for not being particularly strong with C## or VB.  How would you go about executing a SWD policy or Quick Delivery Task via the command line?  I need a way to quickly execute job on client computers without having to wait for Resource Membership updates, schedules and so on - need it to run ASAP.  This is particularly useful when deploying a computer via DS6.X, so that the base image, after loading the NS agent, can then execute SWD tasks quickly, before the user gets back to their machine.

Relying on MSD policies can take hours, unfortunately.  Thanks in advance...

    Hi Wallo

If you are running 7.1 SP1 you could use the new introduced Emergency Software Delivery Policy which sould act similar like a Task. Take a look at the following link:http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3918 at Page 118

Be careful when using Emergency Software Delivery Policy

Thanks Network23, that adds more fuel for the 7.1 migration fire.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  Unfortunately an Emergency SWD policy won't do what we need here, because it requires administrator intervention.  I've got a script to perform a managed delivery via command line, however they're not generally quick enough when deploying machines.

A quick delivery task would possibly do the job but I've had some issues running those from command line with the ASDK.  Namely, if the client machine isn't totally ready , these tasks can either time out or be missed by the client.
