  • 1.  Exporting NS Reports as an csv or Excel file

We have some NS reports that show us information about our asset DB collection. We want to save this out to a csv or xls file so it can be viewable in Excel. Can this be done?

If yes, what are the steps to do this?

The main way to export is to select the 'copy' icon, which is available on all reports and paste it into excel. It looks like a clipboard or database with an arrow, and resides on the top row.

IT Analytics (which is a currently purchasable add-on) or NS7, when released, will allow additional options for export of data.

I've been asked for a report that when generated contains about 110K rows. When I copy and try to paste them into Excel I end up hitting a 65K row limit. Is there another way I can do this?

Unfortunately what you are experiencing is a limitation of Excel. You can attempt to copy the report & simply past it into a text editor. This should hopefully get past the 65k limit of Excel, however its not very useful this way.

Excel 2007 shouldn't have that limitation. You may try using that version. You cannot use compatibility mode though.

Thanks a ton everyone...Excel 2007 worked well! For what its worth here is the list of programs that didn't work for me: Excel 2003, OpenOffice Calc 3.0.1, Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets 1.2. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I thought it was on the same track.

This was all good information. I did not know there is a limitation in the cut/paste. But looks like 2007 seems to take care of limitation.

    That's good to know.
