  • 1.  Exporting PGP Private Key that was a Cert

    Hello,

    I imported a cert into PGP Desktop to be used as an encryption key when I setup PGP Desktop. Now I need to export the private key. I have tried the following:

    1. Click on the key
    2. File -> Export -> Key

    The issue is the option Include Private Key has been grayed out.

    Is there another way to do it?

    I have a feeling that importting the cert as my PGP key, it does not create a private key.

    Thanks,

    CM

    That does not contain any private keys. I imported them into GPG to double check.

    Thanks though for the suggestion,

    Certificates do not contain private keys, only public keys.  Did you import a certificate, or a PKCS#12?

    You can look at the key in PGP Desktop and the key icon will indicate if the private key is present.
