When trying to image using DOS, I am getting the prompt to enter the password for eXpress share.

    Its like this: <DS>/express:

I tried recreating the boot image for DOS but that didn't help.

Shall I go ahead and delete the DOS boot image and create a new one or is there any other thing which I can try?

Linux and WinPE are working fine.

    6.9 Service Pack 4

    Thanks!

DOS was great, don't get me wrong...but it may be time to start investigating using WinPE for your image deployments.  Soon (and I'm surprised it hasn't happened already!) it will be difficult, if not impossible, to find DOS drivers for modern network cards.  Yes it does boot faster, but you get a LOT more functionality under WinPE.

Hi Kyle, I love to use WinPE however at the 'Authenticating Network Connection' it takes a lot of time... Is there a way to shorten this time. Thanks!

in your WinPE image, if possible. The default to take all drivers means the boot process has to indentify the NIC for the machine being imaged, initialzie it, and then obtain a DHCP address. That all takes time. There was also a process to cut down the size of the WinPE boot image in general, not sure if this is still valid for WinPE 2.1.

Since we're taking a different road in the forest with this line of the questioning, did the above links help out at all, in regards to your initial question?

    Hi Jim,

We recently upgaraded all our DC's to 2008 R2.

I never tried the solution as PE worked fine for us however I think we have the same issue with DOS and this will work for us.

    Thanks!
