  • 1.  External KB not working - PGP login

    Posted Jan 28, 2015 11:56 AM

    Hello,

I know this subject and issue has been mentioned before...But I would like to know if there is a resolution yet for users who can't use an external keyboard when logging into PGP. The laptop is a HP Elitebook 820 i7 with an SSD Windows 7 x64, on a HP 2013 Docking station. The keyboard is plugged into the docking station. I have tried to connect the kb, in each port of the docking station as well as directly to the laptop in each port, with no dice.

Symantec: May we get a patch for this? As it  is a wide spread issue.

Any thoughts? All comments and suggestions are welcomed. Have a great day!

    Hi versedispersed,

This issue has been fixed in 10.2.1 MP3, and the latest version is 10.3.2 MP6. Please check the article below which talks about the issue.

BUG REPORT: A failed authentication attempt at BootGuard will disable external USB keyboards

    www.symantec.com/docs/TECH189229

Also check the article www.symantec.com/docs/TECH200001, which has the workaround for the issue.

Thank you for replying symsay. Our environment has 10.3.2 MP6 and the issue is still occuring, the keyboard connecteds to the dock hasn't ever worked during the bootguard screen so there wasn't ever an opportunity to enter the passphrase incorrectly. Any thoughts?

    Hi Versedispersed,

How about the built in keyboard, does that work?

Check the BIOS setting to ensure that the USB keyboards are enabled.  Check that the keyboards work without PGP installed.
