  • 1.  Fail over SEPM to help with fixing original SEPM

    Posted Mar 07, 2012 10:49 PM

    Hey guys,

So i'm having a few issues with my main SEPM server for the past 6months or so (Mainly since the upgrade from 11.6 to 12.1 and the introduction of tomcat and the removal of IIS)

There seems to be 2 installations of SEPM on the server and cant uninstall either as it just errors on both.

Some of the issues i'm getting is 'Lan Enforcers disconecting and reconnecting to the Policy manager (SEPM)', ' Virus Definitions not being handed out to all SEP clients even though downloaded to the SEPM', 'Policy serial numbers not updating on server and client when a change has been made' etc etc.

The main fix for all of these issues plus more is to reboot the server. This is starting to get annoying.

On another note i'm looking at installing a fail over SEPM to help out with the SNAC instant Distater recovery incase the main SEPM is unavailable.

Here is where I need some advice. My plan is to create the fail over sever and get it up and running, then make the failover server the main SEPM server while I go ahead and rebuild the original SEPM server, then once that is complete make the switch back.

Now in my thoughts I dont see any issues with this but I may be wrong.

    Any help would be awesome.

if this is issue with DB, failover ( 2 SEPM's connecting to 1 DB) will still be problem. Run dbvalidator and check if ithas passed, if it is passed then install the SEPM as load balance. Else i would say install as replication partner.

Just ran the database validation and it passed so the DB seems to be all good.
