What is the Operating System of the server the SEPM installed on?
This could be happen due to various reasons given as following
CAUSE: This Mostly happens due to the password for the account which accesses the SQL database for the SEPM has expired
Solution
* Reset the password for the SQL account.
* Set it back to what originally was set for install.
* Set the password to not expire
OR
Environment
Windows 2008 R2 - Standard
Cause
Windows Updates / IIS
- Ran management server configuration wizard.
OR
Environment: Windows server 2003
Solution
Run the Management Server Configuration wizard to restore connectivity to the database
Restart the database service
Restarted the SEPM service
OR
Cause
- The MSSQLSERVER service was unable to log on as ..\Administrator with the currently configured password due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
Solution
1. Open Services from Start -> Administrative Tools
2. Check the following Services are running
- SQL Full-text Filter Daemon Launcher
- SQL Server
- SQL Server Agent
- SQL Server Analysis Services
- SQL Server Integration Service 10.0
- SQL Server Reporting Service
- SQL Server VSS Writer
3. Right click any of this services that is not starting then Properties -> Log On tab
4. Select Local System Account
5. Start the Service
6. Once all the SQL services are up and running. Login to SEPM will be successful.
