Hello,

I am getting the following error when trying to install the Client Package for SEP 11.x on the server also running SEP Manager and is the holder of the Management Server.

"Failed to download and/or install the remote installation service. Access is Denied"

What can I do?

My steps:

Go to Migration and Deployment Wizard; Select the package (the same as I did for our other server setup similarly except SEPM isn't on that one); point it to the server with SEPM and is the MS, and it fails instantly. 

What's the exact 11.x version?

Running with admin creds?

My first concern is that you're on a version which is pushing 4 years old and was buggy, although I have not seen this particular error message before. Any chance of upgrading to the latest 11.x version, RU7 MP3 (to test)?

If not, how are you installing? Are you pushing from the SEPM or did you create a package and running the setup.exe?

We are on 11.0.5002.333 for this

Ahh ok, so it must be something with that server.

I will have to ask my boss about upgrading. Do I need to pay? Will I lose any data? If it is free and whatnot, may I have the download link?

As for installing, I am going from MIGRATION AND DEPLOYMENT WIZARD and using a package (64 bit) that I created and worked on the other server we have.

Our old server that it is working on is 2003, the new one is 2008

Won't have to pay provided you have a valid contract. You're entitled to free upgrades. The upgrade will migrate seamlessly. The only issue for you is you will need to upgrade to RU7 first than to RU7 MP3. So it will be a double upgrade. But you shouldn't lose any data, just make sure you have a backup.

Can you try creating a package and just running the setup.exe install?

I've created the package, will try tomorrow. Need to restart for Windows Updates :)
