Failed installation of exchange in disasterrecovery mode
Hi,
My cluster consist of one exchange box and one failover box. My exchange box took a dive several days ago. Now, I only have the secondary node up and running.
My question to you is:
To recover from this:
1. I went ahead and deployed a new system using the same "failed" exchange server hostname and ip address. Prior to joining the server to the domain, I went ahead and reset the server object account in AD.
2. When I try to install exchange on this server (after ensuring the other server is turned off, since I have to rename the new server to the EVS name and IP address) in disaster recovery mode, I keep getting a prompt to provide a password. The message that is appearing is:
"The microsoft exchange messaging and collaboration services component
requires a username, domain, and password for the existing exchange 5.5
installation service account'
3. We never had exchange 5.5 in the environment. I went even so far in ADSI and made sure the attributes that MS says to check that could cause this window to appear - they don't.
4. In reading the Veritas Cluster Server Implementation Guide for MS Exchange - I'm a bit confused when it sugges to install Exchange server on additional nodes.
I guess my question to you is - should I be installing Exchange in a "normal" mode or "disasterrecovery" mode?

Answering you last questions, installing using the disasterrecovery switch is correct on additional nodes of the cluster.
Please mark my post as solution to help others also if it resolved your issue.
