    Hello,

I am using Symantec Solution Suite 2.5, version of Ghost console is 11.5.0.2113.  In the past I imaged a HP Computer and successfully applied to another like model PC.  Now, I am trying to lay down a clone image of an HP dc7800 to an identical dc7800.  When I attempt to run the clone task, the PC reboots and the last successful step is "checking for sysprep".  It then continually displays this message attempted to poll ghost console:

time 127.0.0.1:1346 polling for bound server servername

It will eventually time out and then clone task fails. The log shows this message:

    Event Details

    Details for: to Virtual partition

Failed to reboot client to recovery partition

I did some research on the web and thought it was a NIC driver issue, so I downloaded latest NDIS from HP and added to network adapter DB assigned to the target PC that is to receive image. Same result.

This is a trialware of Ghost, I did create the image under the same license that I am trying to lay down on the new PC, so I do not believe it is a license protection issue.

My comapany is currently evaluating ghost and support at symantec for this product.  Finding solution will be favorable to moving forward with full purchase.  Can someone please help me with this?

    thanks,

    Dave

DOS drivers can be a royal pain...

Since you are evaluating 2.5 why dont you try using Winpe instead? It comes with extensive driver collection and Ghost boot wizard allows you to extend this collection even further. All you need to do is to change client preOS from PCDOS to Winpe. Virtual partition manipulation is easier under Winpe as well. DOS requires repositioning this partition to suitable place once ghost boots to it hence why you get error "failed to recovery partition" since it has failed to get next instruction set from server.

    Hi Eugene,

Thanks for the reply.  For PreOS client selection, the WinPE virtual partition is already selected, and the clone still fails.  since the partition is virtual and I do see a ramdisk being created, I don't believe it has anything to do with the partition, although that is what the message says. The ngctw32.exe program window continually displays message "polling for bound server", so it looks like it cannot get to the server.  I observed the Ghostcast server and it says on the status bar 'waiting for client to connect'.  I think this is network card/communications related, but do not know how to proceed at this point. It is odd that this worked like a charm when cloning an HP dx2300 PC but chokes when cloning an HP dc7800 PC.  Anything else I can try?

I am having the same problem.  I have tried created and deploying an image using winpe and it doesn't work.  It works fine using PCDOS but I am trying to use Deploy Anywhere.  the client is a HP 2400, which has a Realtek 8168c network card.  I have also made sure I have the most up to date Ghost Console.

    Any ideas?
