I have a Solaris Master/Media with 3 separate networks. My admin console is on my laptop also on another network that has firewall roles to the Master server networkes. Questions are:

1. Does admin console uses UDP to connect to Master/media Server?

2. What TCP ports are needed if it uses TCP instead of UDP?

3. Do they have to be bi-directional?

Any hints are appreciated. At this point admin console can not run on in our office.

Thanks,

Saeid

Answers to your questions:

1. Netbackup does not use UDP for communications, only TCP.

2. By default - TCP ports 13724 (vnetd) and 1556 (pbx) in both directions between the console and the master server. That is applicable to NetBackup 6.x

3. Yes, bidirectional.

Which "admin console"(NetBackup administration console or Java administration console) do you run on the laptop?
Port usage might be different ,and be datailed on Administrator's Guide or so on.
You have to register console host as an additional sever for former.
Sorry not to give you details. I'm out and write with iPhone.
