A failure occurred querying the Writer status
Created: 21 Dec 2012 | 3 comments
I know many have had this problem, but I have had bmy backups set for going 2 years now and all of a sudden over the weekend my backups are failing.
I haven't changed anything, and this is the message that I am getting..
BackupV-79-57344-65233 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\LAHVM.LAH\System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
Writer Name: Registry, Writer ID: {AFBAB4A2-367D-4D15-A586-71DBB18F8485}, Last error: The VSS Writer ran out of memory or resources (0x800423f1), State: Failed during prepare snapshot operation (8).
Things I have tried.
- Restarting both backexec server and file server
- Ran vssadmin list writers.. Nothing
- I've had the Advanced Open File set from the beginning
I've searched all over this site, and I've found people with the same problems. I've tried their solutions, but to no avail. I have also dug through the troubleshooting available through the backup exec app.
I there is any help out there, I would be grateful.
If there is anymore info I can provide let me know.

Try selecting VSS explicitly
Thank you, I will try these options when I get into the office on Wednesday. I will repost if this works!
