  • 1.  Failure to update virus definition

    Hi,

    Some server failure to update virus definition. Please help to fix it.

    "An update for Virus and Spyware Definitions Win64 failed to install.  Error: 0x80004003, DuResult: 0."

    I also tried to download definition package to install, but also failure.

    This SEP is running on Win 2008 R2 (x64) and succeed to connect with SEPM through port 8014

    Try to run symhelp tool

    You can post the log for review. Also, run the symhelp tool to do error checking.

    The symhelp report indicates two reports recognize some signs that the virus definitions are corrupted.  The following article provides some general guidance on how to approach this:

    If this is a "one-time" event and correcting corrupt definitons on one system works and allows that system to continue to update, then using that same approach you can correct the issue on additional systems.  If new systems are continuing to find themselves in this predicament then it may be necessary to look deeper for a root cause so that it can be avoided.
