If there is a way to do this easily, please let me know ... but I have looked through the management console and cannot see how to do it.

We are running the latest and greatest SEP V11.0.5000 MR5 and I am gradually pushing out software updates to the clients via assigning Installation Packages to groups.

What I would like to be able to do, in cases where there is a specific client that I want to update on the spot, is to go to the Clients area, navigate to the folder containing the client, right click on the client and select "Update client software" or similar to that.

It seems silly that I should have to uninstall the software from the client, then reinstall via the Find Unmanaged Computers function.

also ...

... it would be useful to have the ability to do this from the client's systray context menu ... currently, if I right client on the system tray icon on the client PC, I can choose from (1) Open SEP; (2) Update Policy (very useful); (3) Disable SEP... etc.

Why not add to that:
-- request updated software

Migration Wizard

You can use the migration wizard
Start -> Programs -> Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager -> Migration and Deployment Wizard

Yes, I can ... but ...

Yes, I can do that ... but, with respect ... its like hitting a small nail with a sledgehammer ... so many clicks and screens to navigate through each time you want to do it.

Just right-clicking on the client in the management console and selecting "Deploy installation package" or something like that would be far simpler.

I agree to that, but as of

I agree to that, but as of now policy or package can be applied to a group, You can do this as a workaround
Create a group, and have the package in the group.
Drag the clients which needs update and do update content...
Move the client later to its group
i've never tried this.. but it might work.

http://enhancement.symantec.c

http://enhancement.symantec.com/ is a memorable redirector to the "Ideas" tab at the top of this page.  If you find that your fellow Symantec Connect patrons are unable to provide a solution, then the Ideas tab is the place to submit enhancement requests.  This is a direct channel to product management.

Hi,

If its an upgrade installation, YES you can certainly do this. But with a fresh install, am afraid we cannot... :) ..

With SAV we had a method of deploying through IIS, they called it web deployment... I don't know why that dint provide that for SEP... For a mass deploy, we had to use s/w like SMS ...

Cheers,
Visu.

I came, I saw, I err ;)
